issue #160

Alright for Filipino band geeks, PULP may sound familiar to you guys. It's like the official magazine and promoter in the Philippines for local bands and those all around the world. It's like a manual for people who have the capability to appreciate real music with meaningful lyrics and guitar riffs only musicians with god-given talents can produce. In other words, it's like the BIBLE.

This may not seem like a big deal to everyone who's reading this, BUT, it is to me.

My tweet, from my words that came out of my brain, was featured on this month's issue of PULP. YES. THE LATEST SPECIAL COLLECTOR'S EDITION ISSUE OF PULP MAGAZINE. It was insane. I literally screamed for like a whole two minutes before sinking it all in. THEY KNOW I EXIST.

I FUCKING LOVE THEM.
I REALLY DO.

2014 has been such a really good year, and this just made it better. Sorry for wasting your time but seriously this is really a big deal for me. I mean it was mind blowing. Casually browsing through the pages and literally seeing your name on the feature section. For me it's like knowing Santa really does exist. Best Christmas ever.

I'M STILL FANGIRLING.

HOW DO I STOP.

yolo party // december 22

Probably the most insane party I have ever gone to in my entire existence. It was nothing like what I expected to be honest.

Starting off with the venue. When you think of an EDM party, you imagine this insane stage and a panoramic view of what would have been the wildest night of your life, but once we got there, holy shit, I instantly wished we just stayed home and played LOL all day long instead. The venue was similar to almost that of a farm, complete with animals. The smell wraps it all up in a nutshell. At first we thought we were lost, I drove there together with my friends for almost two hours. It was in Calamba, Laguna by the way, so you could just imagine the hell we have gone through because of the traffic.

I wasn't ready to drop any criticisms to the place, after all, the party doesn't start until the drinks flow out. The drinks were fine. Totally enough for everyone. As the night grew everyone was starting to have fun. Crowds of all kinds were present and I was also able to meet Kevin Pableo in person--if you were able to read my previous blog, you'd recall how he was such a big deal to my uncle who passed away. This is kind of personal but I'm going to share it anyway. My love for concerts and raves was from my uncle, who himself spent most of his time looking for the next big event to attend to. He ALWAYS asked me if I wanted to come with him every time he goes to an event. This was kind of the legacy he left before he passed away last August. And until now, I relive my uncle's presence every time I attend to these kinds of parties. He always knew how to have fun and taught me to do whatever makes us happy, regardless of what other people might think. I knew Kevin Pableo on twitter; my uncle told me to follow him because he was this big time concert blogger. He was an avid fan. From then on, I started reading his blog: manila concert scene, and became friends with him on twitter. Kevin asked if we could meet at the party, exchanged numbers, and then viola, instant friends. My uncle would be so proud. Kevin's a really cool dude, the kind of guy you would happily spend the weekend with just attending rave events and concerts. I'm really happy that my uncle introduced me to his work, I might even plan on being like Kevin someday. That'd be cool as fuck.

Moving on with the YOLO party, the night was long. 6 pm to  6 am was no frickin joke. You'd really get tired from all the head banging and drinking. The good thing was it wasn't that hot because it was an open field, and the parking lot wasn't that far so it was really convenient. I wouldn't say it was safe, but hey, the night was all about taking risks right?

Ten years from now I'm gonna go back to this blog and I'm betting myself that I'll be laughing my ass off and say, "Shit, I was a stupid kid".

The DJs were awesome and really knew how to pump up the crowd. Although Mars Miranda and Ace Ramos weren't present, the party still lasted until morning. EDM Philippines, which was kind of the media organizer of the event was really friendly. I loved that crowd. Everyone and I do mean, EVERY SINGLE PERSON, had a great time. There's no reason not to come next time. To top it off, the YOLO party was a roller coaster ride. I'm not saying I'm proud of it but it was really worth remembering, especially because I spent it with my friends. From those crazy high dudes, to twerking butts, I'll say that the YOLO party got their message across. You really do ONLY LIVE ONCE. It was crazy.

Here's their official promo video by the way:

For people who want to experience more out of life, concerts often serve as the perfect choice. As the crowd of pumped up ravers rush through the doors, the sounds of their stomping feet makes you invigorated and energized as it goes louder and louder blaring throughout the concert hall. The streaming kaleidoscopic lights set the perfect illusion that undoubtedly invites you in and makes you anxious for the live performance. Just as the crew initiates sound check, you can hear those fans as eager as bridegrooms, screaming out their much awaited musicians’ names. The speakers, the size of London’s telephone booths, along with the widescreens that make you feel like a tiny spec, gives off the countdown that the show’s about to begin at last! Excitement sets in, not only the echoes from those screaming throats fill the room, but also the camera flashes that almost seem like you’re watching the stars. The climactic moment arrives and the artist that you’ve been waiting for a long tedious time which probably feels like forever, is finally in front of your own eyes within a shouting distance. Those songs, as flawless as a work of art, take you to another place until you get lost in the crowd. The guitar riffs spontaneously carry you away, as the vocalist passionately plays through the chords. The bass creates the perfect beat with the drums, until everyone dances along with it. There’s this unexplainable tingling sensation throughout that whole two hours and the next thing you know, they’re onto their last and final song. The illusion ends along with show, just as everything goes back to its sanity. There’s something about concerts that makes you crave for more, the same way you feel when you want something more out of what life has to offer.

august euphoria

I'm at home, on a rainy Tuesday afternoon, and classes are cancelled. It doesn't get any better than this. But before I drown myself with college related stuff, I wanted to reminisce on probably the most memorable day of my life this 2014: BAZOOKA ROCKS FEST III--if you haven't read my post about that then I'd recommend reading it first: BRFIII.

I was able to recover some videos of the bands that performed like Echosmith, The Summer Set and We are the in crowd, which were all insanely awesome. I literally had the time of my life that night.

Here's also some performances by one of the Filipino opening acts, CHICOSCI! They're just cool as fuck literally.

A look back on Echosmith: THE SORIETAS ARE WICKEDLY TALENTED there's no doubt on that one. Here's one of my favorite songs, and probably everyone else's, COOL KIDS:

The Summer Set!!!
