magic // october 22

Magic!-- the latest edition to my band concert bonanza, the most recent too. This band was literally banging their way up to the charts with their song 'Rude', don't lie to me it's pretty catchy. I went there with my sister, which kinda likes bands like me, fortunately. I love every song on their first ever album. Magic isn't a Green Day-ish punk kind of band, it's more of a reggae type. They're Canadians, which is also cool if you'd ask me.

We arrived there early because we wouldn't want to miss anything. Save Me Hollywood opened their set which was awesome because it was also the first time I get to see them live. Honestly, I was impressed, and their vocalist is gorgeous. If you haven't checked them out then you should do it now, you're reading my blog anyway which means you have nothing better to do.

Although the guards said we should stay on our seats throughout the entire show, we still went to the stage. WORTH. IT. There were a lot of us actually and it was hilarious because the guards didn't even do anything, more fun for us then. I mean you paid a lot for the ticket you might as well make the most out of it.

Nasri was beautiful, I mean look at him. I have this weird fetish over lead vocalists and sometimes I see them glowing every time they're onstage. Nothing creepy but yeah, they're beautiful, thank God for bands right. Their set lasted for only an hour, that's like only 9 songs. Nine freakin' songs. ONE HOUR IS NOT ENOUGH FOR A FANGIRL. Never.

I hope I get to see them live again soon. Then I'll just hide in their suitcase and go home with them back to Canada.

I'm kidding wtf. Or am I?

parokya ni edgar & kamikazee // september 18

When you're in college,  there are a lot of things to be thankful for. One of them is band concerts, especially when the local bands that you get to see live? Are Parokya ni Edgar and Kamikazee. Those bands filled up my first year in high school. I was into local bands before and I'm still into them now, you gotta love your own. In addition to that, it was my bestfriend's 18th birthday so I figured it was the perfect timing to bring her there.

It was held at my university, DLSU-D, and it was actually an annual thing, who knew? A lot of people came which wasn't a surprise, it's fucking PnE and Kami-fucking-kazee. If you're foreign and reading this right now, you have to check out those bands. They're insane.

The whole night was perfect. The mosh pit was full of sweat and literally smelled like dirty socks and armpits. Perks of being a band lover, you have to make sacrifices. Other people actually passed out because there was a lot of pushing and suffocating. But see, nothing compares to live sets, NOTHING. Don't even argue with me on this. The band merch was expensive as fuck which kinda sucked because I really wanted one, a thousand pesos for a band shirt can you believe it. Bullcrap.

But the best thing about here is I made my bestfriend happy on her special day. Parokya ni Edgar was practically our childhood. Chito Miranda is one of the best lyrical geniuses out there no doubt. Can't wait for next year.

Here's my album by the way:

ginebra & sakers // september 9

Alright, I know this isn't your typical mosh pit blog post, but I'm into basketball too. I don't play obviously but I love watching my favorite Philippine team live. And last September 9th, they did an exhibition game with a foreign team from Korea.

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel--if you were one of the people who were reading my previous blog, you'd see some posts about them before, and how dedicated I was to that team. Unfortunately, they lost last conference but I'm pretty sure they'll have their comeback this year. The Philippine Cup already started and if you stalk my twitter account, I'll be on there every night watching them and tweeting about their insane plays and unlimited fast breaks.

Moving on,  I watched this exhibition play with my best friend. I literally cut my last period for this because we wouldn't want to miss it. Obviously we got good seats, freakin' court side. Who would pass on that? And I had like a 7 am class the following day so I was practically yolo-ing for my favorite basketball team. THAT'S DEDICATION RIGHT THERE.

I got a photo together with some of the players like Chris Ellis, LA Tenorio and Joseph Yeo. I'm having second thoughts about posting them here because I'd like to stay professional since this is a blog for heaven's sake.

To sum it all up it was a night filled with turonvers and lame defense, they lost. Sounds gay but I still had the time of my life cheering for them.

bazooka rocks fest III // august 31

Bazooka. Rocks. Fest.

The title says it all. It's like every band geek's dream. 2 days, bands performing throughout the day, plus free booze. Nothing can get any better than this.

BRF was on it's third year this 2014 and it was my first time attending, with my friends of course. The first thing I was really excited about were the band merch. WHO CAN EVEN RESIST BAND MERCH?! The line wasn't that long when we got there fortunately. Seeing all those people with the same interest as yours was insane. I mean I thought I was the only one who fangirled over boys with overgrown fringes and excessive tattoos playing guitar riffs on Youtube. Turned out there were a lot of us, and it was really nice to feel the same vibe with your fellow teenagers, it's nice to know you're not alone.

I'm not gonna lie the ticket price took me like three months to save up for, excluding the concert money. I was practically preparing for this day for almost half a year. The satisfaction I get with seeing bands perform live is priceless. The goosebumps, and the screams, and the pushing and sweating in the mosh pit? All freakin' worth it.

After the local acts, first to perform was Echosmith. One of my favorites. They aren't pop punk or alternative. They send of more of an indie chill kind of music. Which was nice because Sydney was gorgeous, and all of her siblings were adorable. It kind of suited their image. Another thing, Sydney's my age so they are really talented.

Next up was The Summer Set. I started listening to this band when I was still in junior high school. And after three years I finally get to see them live. The anxiety that you feel when you wait for a certain band to come to your country (especially when it's a third world country) is unbelievably depressing. No, with all honesty, I live for live performances like these.

We Are The In Crowd. I fucking love this band, and when I swear, I speak the truth. Tay Jardine is one of the people I look up to as an inspiration. Their whole set was insane and we were literally jumping and banging our heads off to their songs. It's kind of embarrassing that I know the lyrics to almost all of them, but still, I'm proud of it. Someday I want WATIC together with Tonight Alive and ATL, and man, that would be awesome as fuck.

Headlining BRFIII this year was You Me At Six. Dudes brought the house down. Everyone in the area was losing their shit singing and raising their middle fingers during 'Bite My Tongue' which was honestly the highlight of my night. That night was really unforgettable. Nothing can top that I guess.
